Operations Manager / Welding Instructor: Mariana Ludmer, 18 years of welding experience, AWS CWI, CWE, CW. Bachelor's in Economics from U.C Berkeley, M.S. in Engineering Management from National University, ASQ Process Analyst certifications, DIR certifications for business continuity. AWS Los Angeles Section Chair, AWS Certification Exam Bank Committee member, AWS D17 Committee Member.

Welding Specialist: Roscoe J. Myers has 34 years of weld inspection and quality assurance experience. He has worked in multiple industries that utilize welding, including 10 years as Aerospace NDT Technician (RT & PT)., and 24 years as Certified Welding Inspector. With his expertise in weld quality control, Mr. Myers focuses his efforts into helping fabricators maximize productivity.

about welding

Welding...it's been around since the end of the Stone Age/start of the Iron Age ...since man discovered iron in rock...then discovered how to weld these metals together by putting the irons in the hot coals and forging them together with force.
Knives, swords, shields, armours, horseshoes, tools...all these items were forged.
Then came the industrial revolution...first acetylene welding, then the discovery of welding with electricity (arc welding) and a Scandinavian man named Esab invented covered welding electrodes (arc welding rod)...wow...so much history! And working with metals is unlike anything else!
 
Such an exciting career...it is so diversified; technology and skills that are used in so many industries.
Welders touch every aspect of our lives, from aerospace to building construction, to construction & maintenance of pipelines, conventional power plants, nuclear, geo-thermal, solar, wind power, process plants, to railroads, hiways & bridges, manufacturing & machinery, to building sand rails or race cars (hobbyists and professionals) to welding walkways, stairs, gates and fences to...you name it...the application of welding technology has no limit. Everything you touch has had a welder involved.

According to the American Welding Society, there is a continuing shortage of welders in the industry, many of them moving on to become foremen, managers, inspectors or educators, others reaching retirement age.

California Welding Institute LLC is a subsidiary of Advanced Weldtec Inc., responsible for welding education programs. The school is approved by the CA Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education and the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs.

The Company President is a Senior CWI and AWS Certified Welding Engineer with over 47 years of experience in the welding industry. The staff is composed of SCWIs, CWIs, CWEs and Certified Welders.

We help businesses set up and maintain Quality Control Programs & Production Systems, always aiming to improve quality and productivity, with extensive expertise in troubleshooting manufacturing of welded products, metal fabrication & repair processes.
 
Over time, much valuable knowledge has been accumulated, enabling us to offer sound professional advise to businesses, as well as creating comprehensive and "to the point" methods for Welder & CWI Training and Certification Programs. We offer individual or group instruction, as well as on site personnel training at our client's facility or location. 

Our company is an American Welding Society (AWS) Educational Institution Member and an L.A City Approved Testing Agency. Our occupational training program is geared towards those who need to get certified. We offer welding certification courses and welding inspection courses.
 
In our welding shop, we build products from most commonly used materials (carbon & high strength low alloy steels, stainless steels, aluminum, & cast alloys). Our specialties involve pipe welding & fabrication, fabrication of components for different industries, structural & custom fabrication  and  machinery maintenance, modifications , retrofitting & repairs.
 
Much of our strength lies in the ability for producing consistent quality work as well as for troubleshooting / problem-solving system failures, reworking poorly engineered or flawed designs on machinery and equipment, etc.

Community Involvement

Since 2005, our staff has been involved as leaders of the local American Welding Society (AWS) Section helping promote careers in welding and making a difference in people's lives and the industry as a whole.
We participate as section Officers of the Los Angeles/Inland Empire Section, composed of nearly 1,300 AWS members - the third largest AWS Section nationwide.
Our Section hosts meetings on a regular basis, including lectures and plant tours, with the goal of further educating and developing the industry's workforce in a rapidly changing environment. 

Our staff is also involved with the AWS D17 Aerospace Committee, volunteering time to improve the welding codebook and raising the bar for the aerospace industry.

Aside from our involvement with AWS, we also partnered up with local high schools to promote welding as a career. We participate in career fairs, give presentations to students and parents, educate school counselors about careers in welding, and also offer professinal development for welding instructors.

Our Biggest Success Story

These past few years, we have been working with the welding instructor at the Temescal Canyon High School to provide his students with a welding certification program. Thanks to our joint effort, these high school students are graduating as Certified Welders, enabling them to work in welding shops right after high school and start earning money.
